Enforcement of Foreign Judgments
We can domesticate your foreign judgments from sister states to Massachusetts and help you collect upon assets of the judgment debtor in Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, this involves the filing of a civil action and additional steps could involve real estate attachments, trustee process receivership and levy and sale by the sheriff of the judgment debtor's property.

| Commercial Debt Collection
A substantial portion of our practice is devoted to the collection of commercial debts and the enforcement of domestic judgments. The best means of getting paid promptly is by obtaining a pre-judgment attachment. We can quickly and cost effectively do an asset search of the judgment debtor.
The best source of information of the debtor's assets is you, the client. By seeking a pre-judgment attachment of the debtor's assets you stand a better chance of prompt payment. Often parties have obtained judgments but must seek enforcement of the judgments by other means. In Massachusetts this could involve receivership and if the debtor owns real estate the sheriff can levy and sell the property to satisfy the judgment.
Judgments in Massachusetts gather interest at the rate of 12% per annum, simple interest, and after 20 years there is a rebuttal presumption that they have been satisfied. As a practical matter, they remain in force as long as the debtor is alive and then upon the debtor's estate.
